Survival – Bushcraft Schools

Bushcraft Northwest – Goldendale, Washington, USA
From their website: Mike Lummio was first exposed to bushcraft over 25 years ago during a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Since then, he has had the good fortune of learning bushcraft and traditional wilderness skills through hands-on training and his own experience. After receiving a Biology/Environmental Science degree from Washington State University, he was able to apply this knowledge of bushcraft while performing field work and research for various organizations around the Pacific Northwest. Working in this capacity streamlined his approach to both wilderness skills and the gear he brought along which resulted in the practical style of bushcraft taught at BCNW. Our curriculum fits well with SAR, ultralight backpackers, military, and outdoor professionals because we use whatever skill or material works best regardless of historical biases.

EarthSkills – Pelzer, South Carolina, USA
From their website: Founded in 2013, the purpose of EarthSkills, LLC. is to help re-acquaint our community with the bounty of Nature and to reclaim the skills our culture once depended on to prosper as human beings.

More than learning and teaching the practical tools needed to survive, my personal goal is to encourage a natural way of life to people discontent with their current way of existing. It is then my hope they will also achieve the spiritual joy and internal peace a clear mind and light heart will offer. – Alex Garcia, Founder, EarthSkills, LLC.

North American Bushcraft School – Hedgesville, West Virginia, USA
From their website: Our goal is to pass on the knowledge and skills necessary to keep our culture’s primitive technologies alive. We strive to provide the most authentic, exciting and affordable courses possible. We believe that the practice of primitive skills fosters self-reliance, personal growth, sustainable lifestyles, and a unique sense of community as well as a deep awareness of the delicate planet we call home.

The North American Bushcraft School is a non-profit because we don’t want to make a ton of money, we want to make a difference.  We hope that this status makes it easier for you to both afford to spend some time with us, and to feel good about it.  If there is one idea we can get across here, we would want it to be that bushcraft is not solely for the macho military crowd.  We welcome and encourage everyone to give it a try.  Your brain, after all, is your sharpest bushcraft tool.  We can’t wait to see you here on the farm in Hedgesville, WV.
